An incident in a Beauty Parlour in the London og 1866. The unscrupoulous proprietress, Mme Geraldine, continues her ruthless pursuit of money regardless of the misery she leaves in her wake. But one tragedy, at least, is averted through the intervention of her daughter Jane, who is ashamed of her mother's dishonesty. The play ends with Mme Geraldine approaching her next victim wiith unimpaired repacity.
